Water-based mold release

By Staff | April 2008

Axel Plastics Research Laboratories (Woodside, N.Y.) has introduced XTEND WS-47, a new water-based release system designed for wind turbine blade production. The system comprises a water-based mold sealer and W-7838D mold release, formulated to provide a matte surface on finished parts. The system meets European Union (EU) health and safety requirements and reportedly can withstand epoxy infusion processes. The mold sealer and mold release are recommended for spray application on either ambient or heated tools. Both are nonflammable, odor-free and quick to dry and cure.
