Stereolithography resin

By Staff | April 2008

Huntsman Advanced Materials (The Woodlands, Texas) has introduced RenShape SL 7870, a low-viscosity, stable, water-clear stereolithography resin for the production of models and prototype parts with glass-like clarity after processing, according to the CIELAB color scale. Reportedly suitable for use with solid state laser and SLA systems, the material features a notched Izod impact strength of up to 1.15 ft-lb/in and a flexural modulus of 286 ksi to 333 ksi. According to the company, parts made from the material maintain long-term dimensional stability even after exposure to warm and humid conditions (40°C/104°F and 90 percent relative humidity). The antimony-free resin conforms to U.S. Food and Drug Admin. (FDA) USP 23 Class VI standards for use in medical modeling and prototyping.
