High-strength fasteners

By Staff | April 2008

The Young Engineers Inc. (Lake Forest, Calif.) has developed a line of high-strength fasteners manufactured from composites and designed for use in honeycomb and composites structures. The lightweight products are said to eliminate galvanic corrosion in wet environments and mitigate environmental issues related to cadmium and hexavalent chromium-plated fasteners. They are available in through-hole, countersink, floor panel, floating nut and self-locking threaded varieties. The company designs and makes aircraft and aerospace hardware, with a primary focus on fasteners for honeycomb panels and composites.
