Shimadzu Scientific Instruments (Columbia, Md.) has published a new full-color product catalog, Solutions for Spectroscopy, which features the company’s line of UV-VIS, FTIR, Fluorescence, ICP, AA and EDX instruments and software. The 11-page publication provides a brief description of each product in the company’s line of spectroscopy instruments, including the new UV-1800 UV-VIS spectrophotometer. The latter provides a variety of measurement modes. In photometric mode, it measures the absorbance or transmittance at a single wavelength or at multiple (up to eight) wavelengths. In spectrum mode, it obtains sample spectra, using wavelength scanning. Changes in the sample can be tracked using repeated scans. Data-processing operations, such as the enlargement or reduction of the spectra obtained, peak detection, and area calculations, also are possible.
