Paratherm Corp. (Conshohocken, Pa., U.S.A.) has released its new LC System Cleaner Liquid, designed to dissolve and suspend sludge deposits in continuously operating hot-oil systems while the systems continue to run. Ten percent of the exiting fluid is replaced with the LC liquid. A 100-micron element is installed in the sidestream filter. After the LC liquid begins to flow, sludge deposits loosen. Filter elements are progressively reduced over time to 50-micron, then 25-micron size. When circulation continues for 24 hours without the need to change a 25-micron filter, the system can be drained and recharged with clean oil. The system reportedly eliminates the need for lengthy shutdown and overhaul.
