Automated fiber placement machine

Mikrosam AD (Prilep, Republic of Macedonia) has developed a new automated fiber placement (AFP) machine for composites manufacturing. The company says the machine is designed for laboratories and research and development institutes and features MikroPlace v1.0 software for automated layup and AFP process simulation. Other features include a fully NURBS-based environment; compatibility with CATIA, SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer and IGES; and custom ply definitions capabilities. Layup options include constant angle, parallel curve, and laminate family ply. Analysis identifies problematic courses and estimates total production cost and time. Post-processing and simulation tools include definition of strategy between courses, the ability to generate and view a complete machine path, the ability to modify points on any path, and generation of ISO G-Code for a specific AFP machine.
