The Fifth International Symposium on automated composites manufacturing

The fifth Automated Composites Manufacturing Symposium (ACM5), a conference jointly hosted by the University of Bristol and the National Composites Centre (NCC), is moving forward with its event on April 14-15, 2021 in Bristol, U.K. With the goal of offering a flexible delivery of live and virtual aspects, the final format will depend on various factors, including the state of the pandemic. Regardless, conference developers are fully committed to putting on the best possible event that it can.

The conference has also announced keynote and invited speakers as well as topics that will be covered, which include a wide mix of industry and academic presentations across the international automated composites manufacturing community.

Keynote speakers are:

  • Suong Van Hoa, Concordia University (Montreal, Canada)
    • Focus: Recent advances and challenges in automated composites manufacturing.
  • Malin Åkermo, KTH (Stockholm, Sweden)
    • Focus: Composite manufacturing in future lightweight designs
  • Sue Partridge, Airbus (Bristol, U.K.)
    • Focus: Wing of Tomorrow — the automation opportunities and the challenges
  • John Korsgaard, LM Wind Power (Kolding, Denmark)
    • Focus: An industry perspective on the manufacturing of future large wind turbine blades with an emphasis on sustainability and automation.

The introductory lecture speaker is Nick Warrior from the University of Nottingham (U.K.).
