SHD Composite Materials celebrates 15 years, opens additional facility
Independent composite material manufacturer continues to grow its global reach, maintains its flexible customer support with the opening of an additional facility on its U.K. campus.
SHD Composite Materials (Mooresville, N.C., U.S. and Sleaford, U.K.) is celebrating its 15th year as a family-owned, independent business and has recently opened a new high-volume manufacturing facility on its U.K. campus to ensure that SHD remains flexible, reactive and supportive in the future.
As an independent composite material manufacturer, SHD has always taken pride in supporting customers of all sizes with high-quality prepreg materials. By increasing production capacity, SHD says it is future-proofing its ability to continue this support, improving manufacturing efficiencies while still maintaining the company’s commitment to short lead times.
Over the last 15 years, the company has grown considerably into a global business. SHD Composite Materials now has four sites across Europe and the U.S., and its U.K. campus spans five sites. The company features seven fabric prepreg lines that offer material up to 1,500 millimeters wide, two unidirectional (UD) lines, and has an additional UD line under construction. In this way, SHD says it will support global contracts of any size, for all markets and applications.
“We are proud to have reached this milestone as a business! Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last 15 years, our teams across the group, and our customers and suppliers,” say Helen and Steve Doughty, owners of SHD Composite Materials.
