SHD, Lineat signs terms for sustainable carbon fiber composites
Alignment of “recycled” and waste carbon fiber material via a patented manufacturing technology process will encourage more sustainable, circular composite materials development.
SHD Composite Materials Ltd. (Sleaford, U.K.), a global manufacturer of advanced composite prepregs with a strong focus on enhancing sustainability and material circularity, has signed a “Heads of Terms” with Lineat Composites Ltd. (Bristol, U.K.). Lineat is a sustainable technology company with a novel and scalable patented manufacturing technology that highly aligns “recycled” and waste carbon fiber material (AFFT).
Developments combining Lineat’s AFFT material with SHD’s bio-sourced solutions said to feature a lower CO2 footprint are reported to have already stimulated exciting opportunities and early engagement with some leading automotive and sports brands. Having established a solid, early stage technology roadmap, Lineat and SHD now plan to expand further development engagements with innovative composite design teams and OEMs.
It is anticipated that SHD and Lineat’s prepreg developments will support the growing demand for increased sustainability, material circularity and efficiency across all sectors of the composites market.
