The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Automotive Composites Conference & Expo (ACCE, Troy, Mich., U.S.) has announced its call for papers, sponsors and exhibitors for the 25th annual event Sept. 3-5, 2025, in Novi, Michigan. To celebrate this anniversary milestone, the event’s theme will be “25 Years of Advancing Mobility With Composites Technologies.”

Papers and presentations at the event will highlight key industry advancements in categories including:

  • Composites in Electric Vehicles;
  • Advances in Thermoplastic Composites;
  • Advances in Thermoset Composites;
  • Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing;
  • Enabling Technologies;
  • Sustainable Composites;
  • Bonding, Joining and Finishing;
  • Carbon Composites and Reinforcements;
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Data-Driven Solutions; and
  • Design, Modeling and Simulation of Composites.

New technologies in process and targeted for the future will also be featured.

This year’s ACCE will feature two paths for contributions to the technical program: Peer reviewed papers with a technical presentation and a technical presentation only. Those who submit both a paper and technical presentation on time will be eligible for a Best Paper Award that will be presented at the conference and announced through multiple outlets within the SPE.

Those that are interested in presenting are encouraged to send titles and/or topics ASAP to Teri Chouinard at intuitgroup@gmail.com. The official portal for abstract submissions will be available in February. Abstracts are due April 25, 2025, and technical content is due June 28, 2025.

Before acceptance for a podium presentation, authors must submit either an archival scientific paper conforming to the conference guidelines or a technical presentation ready for archival. The archival papers or presentations are due June 28, 2025. A template for papers can be downloaded from the SPE ACCE website here.

Any inquiries about submitting abstracts, scientific papers and technical presentations should also be sent through Chouinard. Additional info on presenting/sponsoring/exhibiting is available here.

“For 25 years, ACCE has showcased how composites have been at the forefront of transforming mobility, from lightweighting to enhancing structural performance,” says Dr. David Jack, professor of mechanical engineering at Baylor University and returning ACCE 2025 co-chair. “As we look to the future of electric, autonomous and sustainable vehicles, composites continue to lead the way, offering unparalleled design flexibility, durability and environmental benefits essential for advancing mobility technologies in the next generation.”

Every year, the ACCE features technical sessions, panel discussions, keynotes and exhibits highlighting advances in materials, processes and equipment for thermoset and thermoplastic composites in a wide variety of transportation applications. Networking breakfasts, lunches and receptions enhance the value of the event that currently attracts more than 400 attendees from across the globe. Since 2001, the Automotive and Composites Divisions of the SPE have jointly produced the ACCE to educate the industry about the benefits of composites in transportation applications.
