CW published news about this in Sept. 2021 (see “DLR Institute of Structures and Design increases maturity of thermoplastic composite fuselage structures”). Now, DLR Institute of Structures and Design (Stuttgart, Germany) has released a video showcasing its work as part of the BMWK-funded LuFoV-3 project called TB-Rumpf. In this project, DLR has demonstrated autoclave-free consolidation and resistance welding of thermoplastic composite laminates as technology bricks for future aircraft fuselages. This work was carried out in collaboration with aerospace industry partners and research institutes.
