Last month, the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA, Arlington, Va., U.S.) announced that current President Tom Dobbins will leave his role as President on March 14 to join the Aluminum Association as president and CEO. ACMA has appointed an internal search committee to recruit a replacement. On March 16, ACMA announced that during the search, Kevin Barnett, who is immediate past chairman of the ACMA Board of Directors and retired CEO of Core Molding Technologies, will serve as interim president until a permanent replacement is selected. Barnett has served on the ACMA Board of Directors in various capacities, including on the Finance Committee and as chairman.

“As ACMA’s leadership begins the search process, I am grateful that Kevin will serve in a greater capacity during this critical leadership transition. His long-standing industry presence and extensive knowledge of both the industry and ACMA make him the ideal person to serve as ACMA’s interim president,” says Scott Balogh, ACMA chairman of the Board.

Barnett says, “I am excited and honored to serve as interim president of the ACMA. Thank you to Tom and the organization's entire leadership for this opportunity. I look forward to working with staff and the membership to continue our vital work, including elevating our industry to help save energy through lightweight products and solutions, rebuilding America’s infrastructure, and developing new standards, legislation, materials and processes for composites and advanced materials.”

“Kevin has been a figure in the composites industry since the late-90s and an exceptional leader at Core Molding Technologies and on ACMA’s Board of Directors. Prior to his leadership at Core, he had extensive experience in manufacturing and public accounting. I am confident in his ability to lead during this transition phase. It's encouraging to leave ACMA in capable hands when I depart,” says Tom Dobbins.
