Advancements in Resin Infusion for High-Rate Manufacturing

Resin infusion applications are growing due to their ability to meet high-rate manufacturing requirements.

This webinar will cover infusion technology for the manufacture of aerospace composite structures. Hexcel will give an overview of different infusion processes, types of reinforcement and resin products available along with some example applications.

Steve Mortimer

Section Leader - Aerospace Liquid Resins Product Development

Steve Mortimer is a section leader for aerospace liquid resins product development within the research and technology function at Hexcel Corporation in Duxford, UK.

In this position, Steve leads the development of formulated resin systems for liquid composite molding applications — including infusion and RTM processes. He joined Hexcel in 2001 as a formulation chemist in R&T and has worked on the development of composite matrices for a variety of different composite product forms.

Prior to joining Hexcel, Steve had worked in similar roles within the composite industry. He has a bachelor’s degree and doctorate degree in polymer science from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST).

Tim Carlson

Materials and Process Engineer - Research and Technology Applications

Tim Carlson is a materials and process engineer within the research and technology function of Hexcel Corporation in Kent, Washington.

In this position, Tim primarily focuses on applications and process development of liquid composite molding technologies using infusion and RTM processes.
He joined Hexcel in 2018 and previously served as a process technician in Burlington, WA building honeycomb core products. In 2019, he joined research and technology as a composite technician, before moving into an engineering role and focusing on infusion and LCM products in Kent, WA. Tim has a bachelor’s degree in materials science and engineering from the University of Washington.
