VoltAero (Médis, France) is marking an important step in the development of its Cassio hybrid-electric airplane family with the November 2024 inauguration of the company’s industrial facility in France, incorporating the aircraft’s final assembly line and VoltAero’s headquarters.
The facility enables the company to perform the assembly and deliveries of its Cassio electric-hybrid aircraft family. At the 2023 Paris Air Show, VoltAero showcased a Cassio 330 prototype, highlighting its composite five-bladed propeller specifically developed for the aft-mounted hybrid power unit by DUC Hélices (Rhône, France and Sebring, Fla., U.S.). VoltAero says its aircraft may also use composites for some components like wings, canards, empennage and booms.
Situated at Rochefort Airport in the Charente-Maritime department of the French Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, this purpose-built 2,400-square-meter facility places VoltAero at a strategic location in southwest France with an established presence of the aviation sector.
VoltAero’s formal inauguration of the Rochefort industrial site is set for Nov. 8, 2024, featuring participants including Jean Botti, VoltAero CEO and CTO; Alain Rousset, president of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region; and Gérard Pons, président du Syndicat Mixte des Aéroports de La Rochelle - Ile de Ré et Rochefort - Charente-Maritime.
