Clean Hydrogen Partnership selects 15 regions to receive project development assistance
The chosen European regions will receive targeted support from dedicated hydrogen consultants beginning in early 2023 to advance fuel cell and hydrogen technologies.
The Clean Hydrogen Partnership, whose main objective is to contribute to the EU Green Deal and Hydrogen Strategy through the funding of R&I activities, has selected 15 regions to receive support for the latest product development assistance (PDA) initiative. The regions, which range across 10 countries, have been selected following a two-stage application and evaluation process. Projects proposed cover a variety of hydrogen applications, from hydrogen buses in the cities, to ferries that connect island communities, as well as industrial applications such as glass manufacturing.
Regions include Estonia (Estonian Islands and Tartu City); France (Regional Council of Réunion); Greece (Peloponnese region); Ireland (Valentia Island); Latvia (Riga); Poland (City of Płock and Podkarpackie region); Portugal (Autonomous Region of Madeira and Alenquer municipality); Romania (Cluj-Napoca and Galati municipality); Slovakia (Košice Self-Governing Region); and Slovenia (Central Sava region and Velenje, Savinjsko-šaleška region).
The selected regions will receive targeted support from dedicated hydrogen consultants, beginning in early 2023. This will enable them to further develop their project plans, thus advancing the deployment of fuel cell and hydrogen technology in Europe, particularly in areas that have seen limited hydrogen deployments to-date.
The initiative will also deliver a wider impact in other regions beyond the 15 selected, through the planned “Observer Network” activities that will be run throughout 2023.
