SAMPE North America reveals 2025 leadership team

Global impact and innovation goals for the advanced materials sector are being prioritized with a new executive cabinet, past president representative and directors.

SAMPE North America (Diamond Bar, Calif., U.S.) has announced its leadership slate for fiscal year (FY) 2025. The newly elected executive cabinet, past president representative and directors to the global board will spearhead SAMPE’s initiatives to unify branding worldwide, expand technical relevance, foster engineering innovation and amplify the organization’s global impact.

These volunteers, elected by their peers, will assume their roles on July 1, 2024. They bring a wealth of expertise from top universities, research institutions and leading corporations in the advanced materials field.

The FY25 North America Executive Cabinet includes:

  • President: German Reyes-Villanueva, PhD, associate professor, University of Michigan-Dearborn
  • Executive vice president: Ashley Tracey, PhD, engineer, The Boeing Co.
  • Vice president: Sana Elyas, technical professional-industrial collaborations, Oak Ridge National Laboratory Manufacturing Demonstration Facility
  • Treasurer: Monica Rommel, owner and CEO, Specialty Materials
  • Secretary: John Misasi, PhD, Polymer Materials Engineering Program director, Western Washington University
  • Immediate past president: Sarah Cox, materials engineer

The FY25-FY26 North America past president representative to the Global Board of Directors is Jerome Berg, senior manager of development and technology at Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Sector (NGAS), Military Aircraft Systems Division. 

The FY25-FY26 North America directors to the Global Board of Directors include Robert Brushaber, director of engineering at Texas Research Institute Austin Inc., and Stephen Scarborough, international expert at Air Liquide.

“Please welcome this group of leaders who will steer SAMPE North America toward new heights,” says Rebekah Stacha, CEO of SAMPE. “Their vision and dedication will be invaluable as we collaborate to advance material and process engineering innovation globally.”

An additional congratulations is extended to SAMPE’s dedicated volunteers for their continued service to its members and the industry.
