Held Nov. 3-5 in Seoul, South Korea, the combined event highlighted composites industry innovations such as hydrogen pressure vessels.
On Nov. 15, JEC Group (Paris, France) reported the success of its JEC Korea and Carbon Korea 2021 events, which were held in Seoul, South Korea from Nov. 3-5, 2021.
The 14th edition of JEC Korea, which was co-located with Carbon Korea, welcomed 80 exhibitors from 12 countries and 3,200 professional attendees onsite, mainly from Korea and Asia Pacific.
According to JEC Group, two application areas were highlighted during the event: hydrogen pressure vessels and infrastructure, and unmanned flying object development.
The inaugural Carbon Korea exposition was organized by KCarbon and KCANIA and is also said to have been a success. The event had four thematic areas: Carbon neutrality, workplace training, start-up companies and 3D printing. The events also featured a conference program and the 15th International Carbon Festival, with the participation of 25 speakers from and across the world, physically and digitally on JEC Korea Connect. Presentations featured various areas of application: e-mobility, aeronautics, carbon fiber-reinforced materials, hydrogen and more. Experts from global companies such as Airbus, Dieffenbacher, Siemens, Plataine or Cobra International were welcomed on stage. A number of foreign and Korean government representatives were also present at the event.
For the fourth time, JEC Group’s Startup Booster competition was held in Seoul, shinning a light on innovative global composites projects, as well as fruitful collaborations between different players in the value chain. With the collaboration of KITA, the leading business organization dedicated to assisting SMEs, five finalists were invited to pitch their project in front of a jury of experts. Among them, Dongnam Realize was designated as the winner, for its involvement into helping eco-conscious companies to lower their carbon footprint and offer high-quality products by providing them tailor-made CXP items.
According to JEC Group, in a welcoming speech on the first day of the event, JEC Group CEO Eric Pierrejean said that despite the pandemic, innovation and research in the composites industry never stopped, and that it is time for a global comeback of the composites sector to live events worldwide. Also in the opening rearks, Chong Soo Park, chairman of Korea Carbon And Nano Industry Association (KCANIA), said that KCANIA and KCarbon aim to develop Carbon Korea as the most effective technology market and business-to-business market in the carbon fiber composites industry.
