Nordex and Acciona Windpower finalize merger
In October 2015, Nordex and Acciona Windpower announced that they planned to combine their activities to establish a global wind energy player.
Nordex Group (Hamburg, Germany) and Acciona Windpower (AWP, Barasoain, Spain) have finalized their merger. "We are now taking the first steps towards establishing our company as a truly global player in the wind turbine industry,” said Lars Bondo Krogsgaard, CEO of Nordex SE.
At the result of the merger, former AWP executive José Luis Blanco has been appointed Chief Operations Officer and Deputy CEO, while Patxi Landa has been appointed Chief Sales Officer to the Management Board. Lars Bondo Krogsgaard and Bernard Schäferbarthold will maintain their positions on Nordex SE’s Management Board as CEO and CFO.
The group has installed more than 18 GW of wind power capacity, covering more than 25 markets worldwide. It generated sales of EUR 3.4 billion in 2015, and currently has over 4,800 employees. The production network is comprised of plants in Germany, Spain, Brazil, the U.S. and soon, also India. The range primarily concentrates on onshore turbines in the 1.5 to 3 MW class, addressing the requirements of developed as well as emerging markets.
