Composite Recycling (Écublens, Switzerland), a company using a proprietary static thermolysis process and post-treatment to recycle carbon- and glass fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRP and GFRP) into reclaimed fibers and pyrolysis oil, has taken delivery of its first industrial-scale recycling unit. This delivery is the culmination of three years of research, testing and development in partnership with its technical, academic and corporate partners.

The unit, exclusively for Composites Recycling’s exclusively for operations, is now on-site at Veolia (Aubervilliers) in western France. Composite Recycling plans to ramp up operations, with the goal of recycling 2.4 tonnes of composite waste per day (read “Veolia, Composites Recycling SA partner for composites waste circularity”).

The company identifies its partner Fiberloop (Partille, Sävedalen, Sweden), which designed and assembled Composite Recycling’s unit to meet the specs of its thermolysis process. Initial tests have yielded “excellent results, particularly in terms of glass fiber recovery,” the company noted in a LinkedIn post about the announcement.

According to Composite Recycling, the unit supports its mission to deliver advanced composite recycling solutions and close the loop on composite waste. Reach out to contact@composite-recycling.ch if you have composite waste are interested in partnering.
