The Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE, Diamond Bar, Calif., U.S.) has extended abstract deadlines for the SAMPE 2022 Conference & Exhibition until Nov. 8, 2021 at 12:00 a.m. PT (3:00 p.m. EST). Selected technical paper abstracts will be announced Nov. 23, 2021, and technical papers will be due Jan. 15, 2022.

The spring conference will be held in Charlotte, N.C., U.S., between May 23-26, 2022. This year, SAMPE is accepting a limited number of abstracts focusing on 12 important areas in the industry including additive manufacturing; advances in composites manufacturing technology; advances in thermoplastics; bonding and adhesive technology; digital simulation and computational modeling (ICME); design, analysis and testing; emergent multifunctional markets; extreme temperature material applications; government programs; smart composites and structures; structural health monitoring (SHM), inspection and repair; and sustainable technologies, recycling and circular economy. Further details on these topics are described here.

Abstract guidelines are the following:

  • Select one track that best aligns with your abstract topic.
  • Provide a short, concise abstract title that indicates the nature of your technical paper (containing no abbreviations or acronyms).
  • Provide a 100-200 word abstract. Be as specific as possible as to what you will discuss in your paper — technologies or strategies covered, case studies cited, etc. This will be used by the conference committee to evaluate your submission.
  • Abstracts should include all of the following:
    • Research problems and objectives
    • Methods
    • Key results or arguments
    • Conclusion.

A technical society encompassing all fields of endeavor in materials and processes, the SAMPE conference provides the most extensive and applicable programming for the advanced materials and processes industry anywhere in the world. Each conference category includes a variety of programs that engage and educate on ground-breaking technologies, industry advances and provide opportunity to source solutions for critical challenges.
