Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber Co. Ltd. (Jiangsu Province, China) announced on Sept. 8 that it has put its Xining-based 10,000-MT carbon fiber manufacturing facility into operation. According to CNBM, Zhongfu Shenying’s parent company, the production line is designed to produce an annual output of 10,000 metric tons (MT) of “high-performance” carbon fiber, while also maintaining a high-end, independently controllable set of technologies and intellectual property rights.
Construction of the facility began in May 2019 with an investment of 2 billion yuan ($320 million). It is the first phase of a major project covering a total area of 800 acres, with a total investment of 5 billion yuan ($770 million). CNBM has been deeply involved in carbon fiber R&D and manufacturing for more than ten years. Its products are widely used in aerospace, transportation, new energy and infrastructure.
The commissioning of the Xining 10,000-MT carbon fiber project marks an important step taken by CNBM in the high-end carbon fiber market. “It has enhanced the international competitiveness and influence of Chinese carbon fiber and will help the domestic carbon fiber industry to further develop with high quality,” the group concludes.
