BAE Systems joins NCC Steering Board
Andy Schofield, manufacturing and materials technology director, BAE Systems Air, will be joining NCC’s Steering Board.
BAE Systems (Farnborough, U.K.) announces that it is joining the National Composites Centre (NCC; Bristol, U.K.) Steering Board as the company confirms its long-term commitment to the NCC as a Tier 1 member.
Andy Schofield, manufacturing and materials technology director, BAE Systems Air, will be joining the Steering Board, established to support the NCC Leadership Team to deliver its business strategy and drive growth in the U.K. composites sector.
“This is an important step for us, building on the strong relationship we have across the High Value Manufacturing Catapult,” Schofield says. “Continuing to develop composite technologies and doing it in a collaborative way with our partners and suppliers is key to supporting Future Combat Air Systems development in the U.K. It also provides the opportunity to access world class facilities in order to explore new technologies and processes enabling the acceleration in the development of advanced composites.”
BAE Systems has been a member of the NCC since 2014 and sees the collaboration with the NCC growing stronger as a Tier 1 member to drive forward its ambitious plans to deliver the most advanced manufacturing and materials know-how into the business.
“With a global reputation for innovation in advanced defense technology, we look forward to BAE Systems taking an active role on the NCC Steering Board,” says Janet Mitchell, director of aerospace & defense, NCC. “As we accelerate our services to industry and continue to build the NCC’s reputation as a world leader in composites technology innovation, developing close partnerships with our members are vital to our future success.”
