Cimbar completes acquisition of Imerys calcium carbonate operations 

Sahuarita, Ariz., U.S. manufacturing site broadens Cimbar’s performance mineral solutions which serve multiple industries including composites.

On Aug. 22 Cimbar Resources Inc. (Chatsworth, Ga., U.S.) announced the completed acquisition of Imerys Carbonates USA Inc.’s (Marble Hill, Ga., U.S.) Calcium Carbonate manufacturing assets in Sahuarita, Ariz., U.S.

The Sahuarita manufacturing site broadens Cimbar’s portfolio and will further support its goal of providing a variety of products to customers from multiple locations, thus offering optimized product security, availability and business continuity.

Imerys specializes in mineral-based specialty solutions for diversified industrial sectors, from processing industries to consumer goods. The group draws on its knowledge of applications, technological expertise and its material science know-how to deliver solutions based on beneficiation of its mineral resources, synthetic minerals and formulations. These contribute essential properties to customers’ products and performance, including refractoriness, hardness, conductivity, opacity, durability, purity, lightness, filtration, absorption and repellency. Cimbar Resources delivers performance mineral solutions across multiple industries specializing in barium sulfate, calcium carbonates, alumina trihydrate (ATH) and post-consumer recycled mineral-based fillers —including products suitable for a variety of demanding thermoset composite applications. Cimbar produces industrial minerals at multiple production sites in the U.S., with three additional production sites in Mexico, China and Pakistan.
