DowAksa joins wind blade consortium PULLWind
DowAksa has joined the group with the aim of helping clients to build and develop their businesses in relation to the use of carbon fiber for wind turbine blade manufacture.
PULLWind (Cowes, UK), a strategic consortium that enables wind blade manufacturing, announced Nov. 7 that carbon fiber manufacturer DowAksa (Istanbul, Turkey) has joined the group with the aim of helping clients to build and develop their businesses in relation to the use of carbon fiber for wind turbine blade manufacture.
Formed in 2016 by the independent composites engineering consultancy STRUCTeam (Cowes, UK), PULLWind is an alliance of composite companies that enables leading wind blade manufacturers to access a turnkey solution for pultruded spar caps. The consortium delivers a secure supply chain, combined with design and manufacturing guidelines, therefore enabling faster adoption of the technology. Members of the consortium include epoxy resin supplier Olin Corporation (Clayton, MO, US), glass fiber product manufacturer Chongqing International Composite Material Co Ltd. (CPIC, Chongqing, China), and now DowAksa.
“DowAksa joining the PULLWind consortium completes a key phase of our development program,” says Julien Sellier, managing director of STRUCTeam. “STRUCTeam is pleased to be aligned with leading supply chain partners that encompass all the expertise required to enable a rapid and successful adoption of this technology.”
PULLWind’s established network of suppliers, specialist engineers and technicians works to fast-track production time, reduce total blade costs and improve the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) – a key target for blade and turbine manufacturers.
