Adwest Technologies Inc. (Anaheim, Calif., U.S.) is a designer, manufacturer and installer of thermal and catalytic oxidizers for reducing volatile organic compounds (VOCs). With a focus on thermal and catalytic VOC abatement solutions, Adwest custom designs and manufactures regenerative thermal oxidizers (RTO), VOC concentrators, direct fired thermal oxidizers (DFTO) and catalytic oxidation solutions. These systems for the abatement of VOCs, gaseous toxic fumes, hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), odors from process emissions, hydrocarbons and acid gas process-laden streams are used by customers around the globe, according to the company.
Founded in 1988, Adwest began by providing compact, skid-mounted and cost-effective VOC air abatement solutions to a wide range of industries. Eventually Adwest expanded its solutions to include compact electric regional transmission organization (RTOs) with flameless NGI operation, which provided NOx-free operation, and point source small-trailer and skid-mounted electric RETOX RTOs for soil remediation and soil vapor extraction. Adwest also included halogenated point source chemical process VOC abatement in its lineup of solutions.
The RETOX 2 chamber RTOs were introduced in 1993, with larger multi-chamber units following soon after. Adwest oxidizers and concentrators are controlled by its proprietary Adwest PLC Control System with Ethernet data logging. This system enables customers to continuously monitor their equipment and process with online telemetry diagnostic capabilities, resulting in a reduced chance of dangerous issues and costly shutdowns.
Adwest says RTOs are the most cost effective and reliable VOC control technology for efficient VOC abatement. Thermal abatement leaves no carbon to dispose of and provides consistently high levels of VOC removal. With 99%+ removal capabilities, the company says these solutions make the harshest processes safer for the environment and community.
Since joining CECO Environmental (Dallas, Texas, U.S.) in 2012, Adwest continues to grow with more than 1,200 installations worldwide. Markets served have rapidly expanded into pharmaceuticals, paint finishing, composites, fiberglass, spray booths, chemical processing, food processing, metal litho, flexible packaging, flexographic and web offset printing, wood products and resin manufacturing, asphalt and metal/chemical/food recycling.
