CGTech (Irvine, CA, US) has recently announced new VERICUT software features. Composite part programming with VERICUT Composite Programming (VCP) 8.1 is modernized and enhanced with the new Laminate Manager. In addition to organizing files, the Laminate Manager brings clarity and visibility to the laminate as a whole. This laminate overview has made several other new enhancements possible like batch processing, laminate-wide analysis and intelligent ply generation.

While batch processing was possible in a limited scope in previous versions of VCP, batch processing has seen significant advancement through the development of the Laminate Manager. According to CGTech, more actions are available for batch mode including: course generation, linking, creation of NC code and creation of analysis files. Analysis files include information related to course overlaps and gaps, as well as material properties relevant for finite element analysis. Users can chain together various batch actions to create a custom process that fits their specific needs.

After course generation, users can take advantage of analysis features built directly inside of VCP’s Laminate Manager. These tools allow users to visualize and interrogate elements such as gaps, overlaps and course centerlines for all layers at one time.

New laminate based course generation algorithms have been added to automatically adjust course placement to avoid concentrations of defect-rich areas. By reducing the collection of local defects like gaps, these automated algorithms help the programmer take engineering requirements and turn them into a finished part.

VERICUT Composites Programming 8.1 puts many advancements in composite programing directly in the hands of NC programmers. All of the NC programs created can then be simulated in CGTech’s VERICUT Composite Simulation.
