FACC (Ried im Innkreis, Austria) has received an order from electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) company Eve Air Mobility (São José dos Campos, Brazil) for the development and production of essential components for the company’s aircraft. FACC is well-known for its expertise in composites manufacturing. With the addition of this contract to FACC’s collaboration with Archer Aviation, the company further strengthens its position in the uprising advanced air mobility (AAM) market.

FACC has been awarded the contract for the development and production of the horizontal and the vertical tail and its moveables (rudder and elevator) as well as the aileron. The entire contract has a volume in the high double-digit million range. FACC says it relies on innovative manufacturing technologies with short cycle times, that enable high rates and a fast ramp-up.

“We thank Eve for the trust placed in us and look forward to contributing our know-how as a longterm partner of the international aerospace industry along with our experience in the urban air mobility market,” emphasizes FACC CEO Robert Machtlinger.

Eve is an independent company founded by Embraer in 2020 to target the AAM industry. Its eVTOL aircraft offers a lift + cruise configuration — the aircraft has dedicated rotors for vertical flight and fixed wings to fly on cruise, with no components required to change position during flight. It will have a range of 60 miles (100 kilometers) and is designed to carry four passengers and one pilot. In June 2023, the company was in the midst of testing in an effort to mature critical technologies for scheduled certification and entry into service by 2026.
