BBG GmbH & Co. KG (Mindelheim, Germany), a system partner for the plastics processing industry, is showcasing innovative manufacturing solutions for the production of lightweight components. The company is a manufacturer of molds, machinery and plants. It relies on decades of experience in the development and manufacturing of molds as well as mold carrier and press systems through to fully automated end-to-end production lines.

BBG’s focus is particularly on production technology for components made of glass- and carbon fiber-reinforced (GFRP and CFRP) composites and material combinations with a paper honeycomb core. BBG is highlighting examples of customer products at its booth, including aircraft window frames, battery boxes for electric cars and vehicle body parts.

The company’s global customers include both aircraft and vehicle manufacturers as well as their suppliers. Cooperation often begins during product development. BBG notes that customers benefit from its many years of interdisciplinary knowledge and experience in the development and design of molds, machinery and plants. Prototype components can be manufactured on BBG production technology pilot plants at Mindelheim, Germany, Oxford, Michigan, and Changchun, China.

As a general contractor for series production, BBG is responsible for the project planning, design and implementation of entire production lines for new projects and for the refurbishing of existing systems. BBG develops and manufactures core components such as molds, mold carriers and press systems, while other elements are supplied by long-standing, tried-and-tested partners.

Within this process, the company is in charge of selecting and integrating the modules and coordinating interfaces. The range of services offered also comprises automation, installation and commissioning, including operator training.

BBG is also well-established in the moldmaking segment. The company develops and manufactures molds for a wide range of production processes, processing materials like PUR, PVC, TPE and other elastomers, and a wide range of composite materials. These are used by customers for composite spray molding, composite sheet molding and compression molding, as well as for low- and high-pressure RTM, overmolding and insert molding, and reaction injection molding. BBG says it also offers solutions that have been tried and tested over many years for backfoaming and thermoforming films, for glass finishing using PUR, PVC and TPE, and for encapsulating hot water tanks with PUR rigid foam.

In addition, the company targets solutions for lightweight design, the processing of composites and the production of fiber-composite components in a large number of industries.

BBG, a family-owned business run by Hans Brandner, supplies its products to customers all over the world, with the Asian market playing an important role in addition to the markets in Europe and North America. The company is represented by its own subsidiaries in China, the U.S. and Mexico, which aid in ensuring fast and competent installation, service support for systems and customer care.
