Iten Defense (Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.), a provider of advanced composites and armor solutions, and portfolio company of Edgewater Capital Partners, has completed the acquisition of Transparent Armor Solutions (TAS, Santa Ana, Calif., U.S.), a woman-owned small business which manufactures transparent armor for military vehicles applications. The addition of TAS will expand Iten Defense’s solution offering to include transparent armor, complementing its current composite armor solutions for maritime vessels, fixed- and rotary-wing aircrafts and tactical vehicles.
TAS provides advanced transparent armor solutions primarily for ground vehicles, maritime applications and personal protective shield viewports. The company’s capabilities include design, development and program management for various Department of Defense (DOD) programs.
“TAS brings a complementary set of products to the Iten Defense platform, allowing Iten Defense to further partner with customers in solving their most challenging survivability applications,” Peter Ostergard, partner at Edgewater Capital Partners, says. “We are thrilled to welcome the TAS team into Iten Defense.”
According to Lex Watson, CEO of Iten Defense, both companies have been closely collaborating over the last several years to “support our maritime customers with complete survivability systems including both transparent and opaque armor, design and integration support. Bringing TAS into the Iten Defense portfolio will allow us to grow and expand our offering to both ground vehicle and infrastructure markets.”
Iten Defense’s extensive technical expertise and specialized knowledge in ballistic armor enables its customers to meet strict performance requirements for mission-critical applications.
