Anisoprint introduces industrial 3D printer, invites beta users

PROM IS 500, the company’s large industrial 3D printer to date, is capable of using both high-temperature polymers and fiber-reinforced composites, with adjustable manufacturing volumes and flexible fiber trajectories.

Anisoprint (Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg, U.K.) unveils an industry-scale, high-temperature polymer machine for continuous fiber 3D printing and has begun inviting first beta testers. PROM IS 500 is said to be the company’s largest industrial 3D printer with a build volume of 600 x 420 x 300 mm and is capable of using both high-temperature polymers and fiber-reinforced composites. 

Use of Bosch Rexroth’s (Lohr am Main, Germany) MTX CNC system ensures PROM IS meets all industrial standards for reliability, safety, tolerance and has all of the necessary certifications and production-grade MTBF for non-stop factory production, the company says. The printer platform will come with an entire ecosystem of software that includes Aura as well as new software for design and simulation, making it easier to switch from Anisoprint’s desktop 3D printing solution, Composer to PROM IS.

Key highlighted features include:

  • The open material system allows continuous carbon fiber reinforcement with engineering-grade plastics such as PA and PC, as well as high-performance plastics such as PEEK, PEKK, PEI, etc. and materials for support structures. The database will be updated with new materials and verified profiles on a regular basis.
  • A tool changer for up to four printheads with CCF and FFF extruders, that are also capable of handling tools for inserts and probes as a customization option.
  • Flexible fiber trajectories including lattice structures with various parameters as well as topology and material optimization by the Additive Flow’s Formflow and Aura workflow for optimized strength-to-weight ratios for parts.
  • Adjustable manufacturing volume of lightweight, highly loaded parts with complex shapes, such as for UAVs and drones, service robotics, urban mobility (UAM), commercial and private space exploration, etc.

PROM IS 500 launch will start with 10 beta users, with testing expected to take around half a year. Beta users are expected to work closely together with Anisoprint engineers and report their experience in exchange for full support. The provided feedback will enable improved reliability, remove possible issues and incorporate all the necessary features for a fully functional, upgraded machine.

Beta users will be chosen based on the following criteria:

  • Beta users must come up with a valid industrial case that can be publically shared.
  • Offer diversity in terms of company size (small, medium and large), industries, applications and markets. 
  • Will be required to work closely with Anisoprint, which will need to visit users frequently to provide direct support; location in Europe is a preference.
