Mel Composites adds Rohacryl processing to customized core offerings
Addition of machining services for the Evonik structural foam brand expands Mel’s range of foam core delivery.
Mel Composites (Barcelona, Spain) announces the expansion of its services for specialty chemicals company Evonik (Essen, Germany). With immediate effect, Mel Composites will provide processing services of the Rohacryl foam brand, supplying foam core sheets and custom CNC-shaped foam components for Evonik and its customers.
The launch of Rohacryl confirms Evonik’s commitment to expanding its Performance Foams product line. It is a premium acrylic-based structural foam that features optimized mechanical properties, thermal stability and environmental friendliness. The new material addresses the demanding performance requirements of industries that include automotive, wind energy and marine.
Mel Composites provides customers with high-precision, cut foam core sheet deliveries, and has designed and manufactured bespoke core kits since the early 1990s. In-house CNC equipment, drilling and grooving machines, and block format inventory enables the company to create custom Evonik foam kits that maximize production efficiency on the shop floor.
Mel Composites will also continue to process Rohacell, Evonik’s high-performance PMI foam.
“Mel is proud to continue its collaboration with Evonik, providing customers in sporting, marine and industrial markets with a highly tailored core solution,” says Eduardo Galofre, CEO of Mel Composites. “Processed precisely, Evonik cored components significantly reduce manufacturing time in a wide variety of infusion, press molding and autoclave production.”
