Charles Tur joins MVP as RTM/infusion specialist; David Jones named director of bioproducts at Ashland; James Dowey becomes vice president, managing director of Smithers Rapra Technology; Thomas Craney joins Crane Composites Group.
Magnum Venus Plastech (MVP, Clearwater, Fla.) has announced that Charles Tur will join the company as a resin transfer molding (RTM)/infustion technical specialist. Tur has more than 20 years of experience in the composites industry and, says MVP, is a recognized RTM expert.
David K. Jones has been named to a newly created position as director of bioproducts for Ashland Inc. (Dublin, Ohio). The announcement was made by Walter H. Solomon, chief growth officer, to whom Jones will report. Jones joined Ashland in 1984 as a product development chemist in Specialty Polymers & Adhesives. He then progressed through roles in technical service, sales, marketing and global business management. His last role in Specialty Polymers & Adhesives was global director of sales. In August 2005, he was appointed to the initial growth office team and he has served as a director in Ashland’s growth office since then.
James L. Dowey, a long-standing industrial executive with extensive expertise in testing equipment, has been named vice president and managing director of Smithers Rapra Technology (formerly Rapra Technology). He replaces Hugh D. Pace who has left the company to become chairman and CEO of Pirelli Tire North America. Dowey is currently director of Tyre Uniformity Machinery at Kobelco Stewart Bolling Inc. (KSBI), a leading manufacturer of tyre, rubber and plastic process equipment based in Hudson, Ohio, in the U.S., and a subsidiary of Kobe Steel Ltd. in Japan.
Crane Co. has announced that Thomas J. Craney has been named president, Crane Composites Group. He joins Crane Co. following a career with Owens Corning and brings to Crane Composites domestic and international experience in sales, marketing, operations and general management.
Atlas Material Testing Technology LLC has named Dr. David Dumbleton as a senior technical consultant for the newly created Atlas Consulting Group. Dumbleton will lend his expertise in environmental durability and performance to a number of Atlas customers, as well as focus on growing the North American consulting services group. Before joining Atlas, Dumbleton’s experience included technical and business management in the polymer materials industry.
