Speaker: Anthony Grasso, Marketing & Business Development, Saint-Gobain ACC 🔸 This presentation covers the material properties of quartz with a focus on dielectric properties, thermal and ablative properties as well as strength to weight ratio. It discusses the main forms of quartz manufactured by SG ACC including yarns, rovings, sewing thread, chopped fiber, powder, felt and veil. It also presents case studies/success stories for space applications of quartz including the 3DMAT Project with NASA and the Orion Space Capsule Re-Entry Surface.
Speaker: Ross Adams, Business Development Manager, Markforged 🔸 In 2023, aerospace company Sidus Space partnered with Markforged, the company strengthening manufacturing resiliency by enabling industrial production at the point of need, to create a re-imagined satellite called LizzieSat. The goal was to develop a satellite that could meet all the rigorous certification standards required of aerospace engineering while also being lightweight and able to serve multiple customers and operations. This presentation discusses how Sidus found a solution using 3D printing on Markforged's Digital Forge Platform. By leveraging Markforged 3D printers, Sidus Space has been able to fabricate components quickly and effectively for multiple programs, which enables the company to meet customer requirements in a cost-effective and timely manner.
