Coronavirus/COVID-19: Seeking feedback

As you assess your current and coming work in the composites world, what kind of industry information is going to have the greatest utility?

We here at CompositesWorld are, like you, adjusting to the new reality that has been thrust upon us by the arrival of Coronavirus and COVID-19. I’m not just talking about the cancellation of exhibitions and other composites industry events. I’m talking about living and working in a world that demands minimal human contact, where the regular habits of daily life — interacting with colleagues, attending meetings, working in a production environment, socializing, traveling — are now highly regimented, restricted, bracketed or outright forbidden. I’m talking about the crippling of consumer demand, the disruption of supply chains, the working from home and the uncertainty of the depth and breadth of this strange new world.

I don’t know when the world will come out of this chaos, or what the world will look like on the other side. What I do know, however, is that human beings are great adapters, and even if we are anxious about our current predicament, we will find ways to mold ourselves and our environments to the moment — to move forward.

To that end, we here at CW need your help. As you assess your current and coming work in the composites world, what kind of industry information is going to have the greatest utility? Do you want to know how other composites professionals are coping in the COVID-19 world? Or, are you sick of COVID-19 and more interested — more than ever — in keeping up to speed on composite materials and processes and how they are being applied? Do you fear that isolation will leave you at a competitive disadvantage? Are you looking for other ways to connect with other composites professionals given the lack of industry events? Are you most interested in positioning your company and yourself to come out of this crisis prepared to hit the ground running?

CW’s number one job is to provide information that helps the reader — you — do your job better. If that means we temporarily refocus our editorial content to integrate a Coronavirus/COVID-19 perspective, then we will do it. However, it might also mean that we recommit ourselves to helping you understand the composites materials and technologies the world has to offer.

I appreciate any feedback you want to share. Thank you in advance: jeff@compositesworld.com.
