Hexagon Agility (Costa Mesa, Calif., U.S.), a subsidiary of Hexagon Composites (Alesund, Norway), has been awarded an order for Smartstore Mobile Pipeline units from a major heavy-duty fleet in North America, and are targeted to commence in Q2 2022. According to Hexagon Agility, the Smartstore units will be used to refuel the growing fleet of clean and renewable natural gas (CNG/RNG) vehicles. The units, designed as lightweight and space-efficient gas transport modules, are approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT, Washington, D.C., U.S.) and the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS, Houston, Texas, U.S.).
The contract represents an estimated value of $7.2 million (approximately NOK 64 million) and is in addition to orders the company previously received from the same customer for RNG/CNG fuel systems to be delivered in 2022. Total orders received to date for delivery in 2022 represent an estimated value of $32.1 million (approximately NOK 285 million).
Hexagon Agility reports that its Mobile Pipeline business provides global customers with cost-effective, environmentally friendly gas storage and transportation solutions. As the number of natural gas vehicles on the road increases, Hexagon Agility contends that greater infrastructure — including mobile refueling stations — are essential to support (renewable) RNG/CNG adoption.
“We are proud to be able to offer fleets our comprehensive portfolio of solutions that now includes Mobile Pipeline, in addition to clean vehicle fuel systems,” says Seung Baik, president of Hexagon Agility. “As the lowest emission fuel available today, RNG enables fleets to meet their sustainability goals while maintaining low total cost of ownership.”
