Hexcel receives Sustainability Award from Airbus Defence and Space
Company recognized for partnership that repurposes composites waste from European operations.
On Nov. 10 Hexcel Corp. (Stamford, Conn., U.S.) announced that Airbus Defence and Space (Taufkirchen, Germany) has recognized the company with its annual Sustainability Award, presented at the Global Supplier Conference in Munich, Germany.
Each year, Airbus Defence and Space recognizes a few suppliers that have achieved excellence in sustainability through initiatives that support its business. The award granted to Hexcel recognizes a partnership announced in 2021 with Fairmat (Paris, France) to recycle carbon fiber prepreg composite cutoffs from Hexcel European operations and its customers. The cutoffs are reused in manufacturing composite panels sold into commercial markets.
“We are delighted to receive this award that recognizes a key collaboration and important milestone in our path to achieve our sustainability targets,” Thierry Merlot, president, aerospace – Europe, MEA/AP and industrial at Hexcel, says. “From lightweight composites that help lower emissions to improving our processes to reduce our impact on the environment, Hexcel is relentless in our pursuit of innovations that, in collaboration with customers, will lead to a more sustainable future.”
