SGL Carbon SE publishes half-year preliminary sales and earning figures, raises forecast for 2021

According to preliminary figures, SGL Carbon expects group sales for the first half of 2021 to reach around €496 million, up about 9% compared to last year.

Based on the encouraging business performance in the first half of 2021, SGL Carbon (Wiesbaden, Germany), per published preliminary sales and earnings figures, reports that it expects strong results for the first six months of 2021 and has raised its guidance for fiscal year 2021.

The company expects to exceed €100-120 million and raises the earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) and has raised the EBITDA pre-guidance for 2021 to €130-140 million euros. SGL Carbon says its sales forecast has also increased slightly to approximately €1 billion for the current fiscal year, up from €920-970 million originally.  Corresponding with the forecast of €20 million at the beginning of 2021, the company also expects free cash flow for the full year. SGL Carbon further predicts a slightly positive consolidated net result; previously, the company has assumed a consolidated net result of between €-20 million and €0.

According to preliminary figures, SGL Carbon expects group sales for the first half of 2021 to be around €496 million. This corresponds to an increase of around 9% compared to the same period of the previous year. Based on the sales increase and the cost effects achieved from the transformation, EBITDA pre (EBITDA before non-recurring items and one-time effects) increased to around €72 million in the first six months of 2021.

This updated forecast for 2021 has been prepared on the basis of the prevailing market environment and assumes no deterioration in conditions due to the coronavirus pandemic. In particular, it is based on the assumption that purchasing prices and logistics chains remain stable and production lines remain in operation.

SGL Carbon will release its 2021 half-year figures on August 12, 2021.
