Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite pultruder Strongwell (Bristol, Va., U.S.) is releasing a new product for the commercial construction industry, Strongirt.

Strongirt is an all-fiberglass, pultruded FRP continuous insulation (CI) cladding attachment support system that can be used to create cost-effective, sustainable envelopes, rainscreens and facades for existing structures. The system can be mounted vertically or horizontally to virtually any substrate, is lightweight, highly thermal efficient and is said to offer superior corrosion resistance and pullout strength over traditional metal attachment systems.

“We’ve seen for several years now that the building code is becoming more stringent in its expectations for building envelope performance,” says David Gibbs, Strongwell’s vice president of sales and engineering. “Adding a strong, thermally efficient, sustainable layer of protection to existing structures is a smart way to help improve that performance and protect long-term investment. Because Strongirt provides a convenient attachment point for nearly all facades, it's also a cost-efficient way to help support cladding systems that can refresh a building’s appearance, creating additional value.”

To provide widespread support and service for Strongirt, Strongwell has signed agreements with three firms in the industry – Arcspec (Libertyville, Ill., U.S.); Facades Northwest (Seattle, Wash., U.S.); and Rainscreen Consulting, LLC (Rock Hill, S.C., U.S.) with representatives based throughout the U.S.

“We’re pleased to collaborate with these three firms and their industry partners,” Gibbs adds. “They offer decades of expertise in the areas of external design, construction and rainscreens, for which Strongirt is the ideal complement.”
