Photothermal tomography system enhances composites NDT
JEC World 2024: Austria-based voidsy GmbH introduces the 3D V-ROX system, facilitating fast, contactless and nondestructive inspection with added efficiency and safety.
Technology company voidsy GmbH (Wels, Austria), has recently launched the voidsy 3D V-ROX, a photothermal tomography system specifically designed to facilitate fast, contactless and nondestructive inspection (NDI) of a wide range of material systems. The system is also highly suitable for composites manufactured using resin transfer molding (RTM), injection molding or autoclave processes. It serves a broad spectrum of industries, from aerospace and automotive to other vertical market segments.
The voidsy 3D V-ROX system stands out for its ability to analyze complex structures without contact, precisely identifying hidden defects, such as delamination or structural irregularities. This capability is crucial for sectors where quality, reliability and safety are paramount. The technology is a direct response to the growing demands of modern industries which are increasingly reliant on more complex components and future high-performance materials.
One of the system’s most notable features is its speed. Compared to traditional inspection methods like ultrasonic testing, no coupling agent is needed and the voidsy 3D V-ROX system enables up to 80% faster quality inspection. Voidsy says that this increase in efficiency can significantly shorten production cycles and reduce costs. Additionally, the system emits no ionizing radiation, making it a safe and environmentally friendly solution for quality inspection. Its compact design and light weight (5 kilograms) facilitate easy mobile inspection applications and provide the basis for simple automation in automated nondestructive testing (NDT) applications.
Voidsy is presenting about this technology at JEC World 2024. Visitors can see the 3D V-ROX system in action, and meet voidsy personnel, Dr. Günther Mayr (CTO) and Dr. Holger Plasser (CEO), at partner booths Engel (Booth 5L106) and FILL GmbH (Booth 5L90).
