Scott Bader Co. Ltd. (Wellingborough, U.K.) has launched a new high-tech structural adhesive for its Crestabond range, Crestabond M1-04 SL.
According to the company, “SL” stands for self-leveling. The 10:1 structural adhesive, suitable for primerless application on composites, thermoplastics and metals, is used for potting and bonding purposes in electric vehicle (EV) batteries and is suitable for applications in all market segments where self-leveling properties are required. Scott Bader says it has high strength and is resistant to tough environmental conditions. Crestabond M1-04 SL also has a gap-filling capability of up to 5 mm.
The development of Crestabond M1-04 SL showcases the company’s focus on developing products for sustainable markets, as part of Scott Bader’s 2036 vision of becoming a fully sustainable company. The company’s recently announced Canadian site will begin manufacturing Crestabond structural
adhesives in 2022.
