CW shares key findings from readership survey
CompositesWorld released a survey across its website and e-newsletter platforms to take the temperature of its digital and print readers. Here are a few interesting takeaways based on those responses.
A couple weeks ago, CompositesWorld released a survey across its website and e-newsletter platforms to take the temperature of its digital and print readers. The impromptu survey was developed to better inform CW’s team on what is and isn’t working for our audience when it comes to industry topics, content types and content frequency. We even included a long-form answer at the very end to gauge what you, our readers, are interested in seeing more of — or, alternately, topics that you feel we’ve not covered enough.
We would like to thank everyone who took the time to complete the survey.Overall, the responses garnered were positive, and let the CW team know that the trends and topics we’re covering remain pertinent to the industry and its manufacturers. Below, we share a few key points we found interesting:
- 58% of survey responders claimed Design and Testing was their favorite column. Past, Present and Future and The Troubleshooter (our newest addition as of last year) follow in second and third place, respectively.
- 84% respondents noted that the CW Today e-newsletter provides them an ideal amount of content to digest each week;
- When asked what article types readers find most useful, Inside Manufacturing (IM), Work in Progress (WIP), Focus on Design (FOD), Feature and Plant Tour article ratings were neck and neck with 66% of responders saying Inside Manufacturing is the most useful followed closely by 60% in favor of Work in Progress, 58% for Focus on Design, 52% for Features and 50% favoring Plant Tours.
- More than three quarters of survey respondents agreed that current article lengths are reasonable:
- Next-gen aerostructures and thermoplastics are still some of the primary hot topics in the composites industry (see opening image).
Because of its valuable feedback, CW anticipates sending out readership surveys again later in the year for additional insight. Be on the lookout in the CW Today and CW EXTRA newsletters and on the CW website!
