Mejzlik Propellers is the main propeller supplier for Dufour Aero2
Carbon fiber fixed-pitch propeller blades are customized for the drone’s lift and cruise requirements, adds to the aircraft’s already extensive composites use.
Electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) company Dufour Aerospace (Zurich, Switzerland) announces that it’s incorporating Mejzlik Propellers’ (Brno-Židenice, Czech Republic) carbon fiber fixed-pitch propeller blades, geared for the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) market, into the main propeller of Dufour’s Aero2 drone.
An uncrewed, hybrid-electric, tilt-wing craft, Aero2 is expected to be able to transport 40 kilograms over a distance of 400 kilometers. It makes extensive use of composites — including the airframe, structural components in the nacelles and tail, composite connectors and even its brackets.
“Mejzlik Propellers has crafted custom variable-pitch blades for the main propellers, perfectly suited to our motor and aircraft performance needs,” Simon Bendrey, head of design at Dufour Aerospace, says. “Teamed with Dufour’s in-house designed variable-pitch hub mechanism, these propellers will deliver the lift and cruise thrust for the aircraft.”
According to Tomas Mejzlik, CEO of Mejzlik Propellers, involvement in the Aero2 project enables the company to leverage its 30-plus years of experience in propeller design and manufacturing and will further enhance Mejzlik’s expertise in propulsion systems in the UAV market.
