The third edition of The Native Lab’s Monocoque Design course is launching Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021. After its first two successful editions with more than 40 students in total, The Native Lab — which offers a variety of training courses related to composites — is ready to help students learn what the monocoque design process is like from former McLaren and Koenigsegg car designers.
Why this course? “Because composite materials are the present and the future. They are less of a choice and more an imperative. Metals and plastics might be the right solution for many engineering challenges. However, composite materials will offer a new range of possibilities and solutions,” says Tommaso Müllejans, program manager for The Native Lab. “And this is precisely the case when a monocoque needs to be designed. All in all, this course is about understanding the in-depth design process, as well as the beauty of doing this with composite materials.”
Managing Composites (Madrid, Spain) engineers Lluc Marti, Alejandro Batan, Marc Oliva, Eneko Angulo and Ignacio Carranza have been chosen to lead different sessions of this course, combining their experience working with composites and monocoques at companies like Koenigsegg, McLaren, Prodrive and Hyundai.
The course will be taught online and live, to enable students to interact directly with the trainers, and lead to group discussions. In total there will be nine sessions, taking place on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. CET, beginning Oct. 27 and finishing right before Christmas. In case students cannot participate live, they will have access to the recording of the live session.
Sessions include:
- Introduction and Basics of Monocoque Design
- Packaging and Primary Functions
- Concept Design and Secondary Functions
- DFMEA
- Detail Design
- Analysis I
- Analysis II
- Post-Process
- Final Q&A Session
The price of the course is €399 (~$460) and it is taught in English. Every participant will receive a certificate of completion. For more information contact The Native Lab at info@thenativelab.com
