The Native Labs launches new Composite Materials course

Online, self-paced course takes users through three blocks — materials, processes and design — to provide a comprehensive understanding of how to work with composites.

In addition to the launch of The Native Lab’s (TNL, Madrid, Spain) Monocoque Design course this past month, TNL is now offering a Composite Materials course. The online, self-paced course consists of short videos explaining the theory and practice behind composites, as well as tasks and quizzes to help determine progress.

The goal of this course, according to TNL Chief Operations Officer and Trainer, Managing Composites (Madrid), Eneko Angulo, is to transmit what it means to be working and thinking with composites comprehensively in a short period of time. Angulo notes that previous experience with companies like Koenigsegg and McLaren will aid in this endeavor.

“Composites are the present and the future,” TNL’s Tommaso Muellejans adds. “They are less of a choice and more an imperative since they offer a new wide range of possibilities to solve engineering problems.”

The course consists of three main blocks. The first block explains composite materials in detail, from understanding the different types of fibers, matrices and fabrics, to posing different scenarios in which they function. The second block will then cover common manufacturing processes (e.g., RTM, layup, etc.) and why they’re important. The third and final block centers around composites design. Ultimately, TNL notes, a complete understanding of how composite materials work and how they’re manufactured begins the process of how to design with them.

The course is €299 (~$339) and is taught in English. Every participant will receive a certificate of completion. For more information contact TNL at info@thenativelab.com
