Valeth (Tamil Nadu, India), a manufacturer specializing in materials, components and systems for the aerospace, defense, space and marine industries, has selected Plataine’s (Waltham, Mass., U.S.) AI-powered Time-Sensitive Material Manager (TSMM) to help streamline operations in response to a substantial production increase anticipated in the near future. Plataine’s advanced manufacturing solutions will aid in Valeth’s ongoing digital transformation, automating key processes, minimizing material waste and boosting operational efficiency.
Established in 1990, Valeth has continually grown its technology portfolio to meet the rigorous demands of various industries, including collaborations with notable research organizations including the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO, Bengaluru, India) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO, New Dehi, India). Currently, Valeth operates three manufacturing facilities in India, with an additional one underway internationally.
The company’s wide-ranging expertise covers composite molding, metallic technologies and technical textiles, and it also operates a boatbuilding division. Valeth manufactures composite parts and assemblies using a variety of composite manufacturing processes including filament winding, tape winding, compression molding, vacuum infusion and autoclave cure. Another division of the company specializes in the manufacturing of composite raw materials such as technical textiles and prepregs, as well as highly engineered materials, such as silica and carbon tiles.
With production demands on the rise, Valeth found itself facing challenges tied to its traditional manual processes, including lagging efficiency, increased material waste and reduced control over shopfloor activities. The adoption of Plataine’s TSMM represents a strategic move to automate these processes and enhance operational visibility. The AI capabilities embedded in TSMM offer Valeth real-time insights to optimize material use, avoid costly expired materials and maximize the utility of its resources. The overall aim is to provide comprehensive traceability across production, fostering improved quality and sustainability in operations.
“We needed a solution that could address our operational challenges, particularly around process automation and material management,” says Valeth owner Nitin Valeth. “We chose Plataine due to its ability to automate our manual process, minimize waste and operational costs, while improving collaboration between our factory floor operators and management. We see it as a first step in our growth journey.”
For Plataine, this partnership underscores the company’s commitment to empowering manufacturers through its AI and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. “We are excited to partner with Valeth and help them meet their operational challenges,” says Avner Ben Bassat, president and CEO of Plataine. “Our AI-powered solutions streamline manufacturing processes and enable companies to scale efficiently. The implementation of TSMM will support Valeth in achieving their growth targets while ensuring sustainability and operational excellence.”
