FACC (Innkreis, Austria) announced that it has received an order from Bombardier Belfast for the production of composites-intensive thrust reverser trans cowl components for the A320neo aircraft family. According to FACC, all parts of the thrust reverser trans cowl system, which includes two acoustic panels, two outer skins and one auto translating panel, are built using composites technology.
With this order, FACC says it has now extended its long-standing cooperation with Bombardier (Montreal, Canada) in the areas of cabin interiors and aerostructures including engine nacelle components. The project marks FACC's first collaboration with Bombardier Belfast.
“We were able to demonstrate to Bombardier Belfast our marked competence as a key partner. I am grateful for the trust Bombardier has placed in us and am delighted that it is now also relying on high-tech from FACC for its aircraft engine nacelles,” says Robert Machtlinger, CEO of FACC.
“This new order is of great strategic importance for FACC and for the Engines & Nacelles division in particular, as the cooperation with Bombardier Belfast is an expansion of our customer and product portfolio,” says Günter Nelböck, VP of engines & nacelle atFACC. “Through its cooperation with Bombardier Belfast, FACC is further expanding its market share on the A320 aircraft family and benefits from the global success of the aircraft. Stable growth of the FACC Engines & Nacelles division and the creation of secure long-term jobs in the region are thus guaranteed.”
