Global trade association The Advanced Carbons Council launches
Delivered by The Graphene Council, ACC’s mission is to connect and facilitate production, adoption and use of engineered advanced carbons. Those interested are encouraged to join the community.
The Advanced Carbons Council (ACC, Zug, Switzerland) has been officially launched as a global trade association to support the production, adoption and use of engineered, advanced carbon.
ACC’s mission is to connect and facilitate the cross-sector fertilization of ideas, applications and business opportunities for all carbon producers and users, including companies and organizations that produce, use and develop applications for:
- Graphene
- Carbon nanotubes (CNTs)
- Carbon fiber
- Carbon nanofibers
- Synthetic and engineered graphite
- Carbon-carbon (C/C) composites
- Carbon nanodiamonds (CNDs)
- Fullerenes
- MXenes and novel carbon forms
- Recycled and reclaimed carbon fiber
According to Terrance Barkan, executive director of the ACC, these markets collectively represent more than $500 billion in market turnover and are also leading candidates to help global industry to meet net-zero emissions targets through CO2 reduction and mitigation.
Delivered by the same team that has grown and developed The Graphene Council (New Bern, N.C., U.S.) over the past 11 years to become a global community of more than 36,000 materials professionals, the ACC focuses on standards, quality, safety, education, sustainability, advocacy, verification, testing and outreach to connect users with qualified supply chain partners.
“It is time that we intelligently apply different advanced forms of carbon, working together to create a truly sustainable economy,” says Barkan. “Whether it is converting reclaimed carbons into high-value new materials or extending the life and utility of legacy materials, advanced carbons represent the single greatest opportunity to reduce CO2 emissions while making products that are better, stronger, safer, lighter and more sustainable.”
The ACC encourages interested parties to reach out for a personal, one-on-one conversation to discuss how the ACC can support efforts, whether you are a producer or a potential user of advanced carbon materials.
