Virtek Vision International Inc. (Waterloo, Ont., Canada) has been acquired by Ametek Inc. (Berwyn, Pa., U.S.), a global provider of analytical, monitoring, testing, calibrating and display instrumentation. Virtek, as part of Ametek’s Electronic Instruments Group (EIG), will continue to operate as an independent organization through Ametek’s Creaform business.
Until now, Virtek was formerly owned by private equity investor American Industrial Partners (AIP, New York City, N.Y., U.S.). “They’ve been an incredible partner, fueling our growth, driving innovations like our Iris AI inspection solutions and elevating our Iris 3D software to new heights,” says Dietmar Wennemer, president and CEO, Virtek Vision International Inc.
Virtek’s strong technology capabilities will nicely complement Creaform, Ametek’s chairman and CEO, David A. Zapico, says, enabling a broader suite of automated 3D scanning and inspection capabilities supported by advanced software and algorithms. The new connection with Creaform and Ametek will also positively impact Virtek, its customers and partners alike.

Both companies focus on industrial vision and laser projection technologies, offering solutions in production assistance, dimensional inspection and quality control for industrial manufacturers worldwide. Virtek’s Iris camera and software platform is one example, enhances accuracy, adaptability and efficiency across production processes. It is specifically engineered to raise the bar in composite inspection and foreign object detection (FOD).
“We remain dedicated to growth by prioritizing precision, quality and innovation to develop advanced technology for our customers and drive success for our partners,” states Wennemer. “Together, we will boost accuracy, streamline workflows and create digital production records to support efficient, error-free manufacturing. Continuous innovation is on the horizon for early 2025 — stay tuned for the solutions we have in store for the industry.”
