Eastman Machine Co.’s (Buffalo, N.Y., Y.S.) compact S135 static table in the 10' length is a popular option for Eastman customers seeking automation but are struggling with minimal footprint availability. Eastman’s static table system is capable of cutting, marking and punching flexible material at speeds of up to 60 in/sec (152.4 cm/sec). The system’s high-precision configuration features multi-axis motion for more defined and accurate cuts. Eastman digital cutting systems are suitable for cutting glass fiber, carbon fiber and aramid in both dry and prepreg form, with or without peel ply.
Eastman’s engineers develop and improve its cutting products, capabilities and customer service to serve a growing list of industries. Its composite cutting machines are used by manufacturers in the aerospace, wind energy, automotive, sporting goods, electronics and marine industries, as well as other advanced material applications. Material is spread across the static table by an operator or with the use of a pneumatic gripper bar. The open plenum vacuum system design promotes evenly dispersed airflow for material hold-down. The computer-controlled system features zoning capabilities to enable cutting in one area while the operator is simultaneously picking parts in another, increasing daily production capacity.
The table comes with a choice of a standard, heavy-duty or fiber tool head, featuring individually aligned and calibrated tool spindles with a choice of more than 60 blades, punches and notches. A library feature within the operating control software enables the operator to save commonly used tool pressures and blade assignments based on job and material files. A restricted login access feature helps prevent unauthorized changes to the system and software.
