Aligned Vision (Chelmsford, Mass., U.S.) is demonstrating how its BUILDGUIDE process control suite advances the digital factory with paperless layup and non-layup guidance, plus automatic inspection and documentation. The system provides step-by-step guidance to operators during the building of a layup. The ply sequence appears on your operator’s computer or remote control touchscreen and Aligned Vision’s LASERGUIDE or LASERVISION provides laser templating guidance to ensure layup of the right ply in the right sequence and position.

BUILDGUIDE’s “next” button also calls up debulk and other non-layup tasks — not only at the right point in the fabrication sequence, but also requiring the right vacuum held for the right amount of time. On the LASERVISION system, another push of BUILDGUIDE’s “next” button initiates each inspection when the electronic recipe calls for it — and performs it in seconds. The operator is alerted only when an inspection uncovers a problem. Otherwise, BUILDGUIDE automatically advances to the next value-adding task and automatically adds inspection data to the fabrication record (digital twin).
